It was incredibly difficult to decide on the longlist and nigh-on impossible to select the shortlist. There were hundreds of publishable short stories entered from all over the world. The overall quality of submissions this year was absolutely amazing. If you didn't make the longlist or the shortlist, please don't be disheartened. So, I'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to you all. To Hull & Back would not continue to grow and give humorous writing a platform to be celebrated from without all the amazing writers who enter. Your continued support has allowed me to increase the prize fund for next year's competition. The rise in submission numbers indicates that the number of mentally unhinged writers out there is greater than I anticipated, which is very reassuring Last year there were 216 entries, so the continued growth is encouraging to see. I received 284 entries into this year's contest.
